STARTER ROUTE
Sandustry Beginner Guide
A source-checked route from loose sand to a stable factory, with the next useful unlock at every stage.
Start by mixing Sand and Water into Wet Sand, process it with a Shaker, collect Gold, and route Residue away. Use Gold for research, then extend the chain through the Kinetic Press, Wet Seeds, flowers and Amethelis.

- Wet → Shake → Sort
Your first reliable line
Do not expand before each output has somewhere to go. Sand and Water become Wet Sand; Shakers separate Gold downward while Residue moves away from the top.
- Create Wet Sand close to the Shaker line.
- Collect Gold below the Shakers.
- Move Residue to a separate burn and press route.
- Spend Gold on logistics, filters and the next processing unlock.
Progress by solving bottlenecks
Research unlocks buildings and tools, while Fluxite upgrades inventory items. A compact line with visible outputs is easier to repair than a large line that mixes every material.
Lay out the starter factory as modules
Treat wetting, shaking, residue handling and storage as four separate modules. Leave a walking gap or inspection window between them so a single blocked output does not disappear inside a decorative wall. A small buffer after each conversion makes the fault visible: if Wet Sand piles up, the Shaker is the limit; if Residue backs up, the burn or press route is the limit. Expand only the module that is consistently emptying its input.
- Contain Water before opening the Sand feed.
- Run a short Wet Sand test into one Shaker.
- Verify both Gold and Residue have independent exits.
- Add parallel machines only after the single line clears itself.
Recover a stalled production chain
Start at the last machine that still produces a valid output and work upstream one handoff at a time. Remove foreign pixels from machine faces, confirm gravity has enough room to act, and temporarily close new input while clearing a jam. Avoid rebuilding the whole factory before identifying the first blocked boundary; most failures come from mixed materials, a full output pocket or a reaction occurring earlier than intended.
